Major Surface Muscles in the Body By Carmen Maendel 

Surface muscles are the muscles that you can see on the superficial layer of the body.  Muscles make movement happen and each muscle will create a certain movement around a joint.  It is important to know the origin, insertion, and actions of some of these major muscles in the body.  It is equally important to know what exercises or movements coincide with  each muscle or muscle group within our body.  Starting from the shoulders down, I will list the major muscles and each of their origins, insertions, actions, and  pertinent exercises using these various muscles or muscle groups.

The first group I will address are the muscles in the back, shoulder, and chest region.  The Erector spinae (back) is made up of three sets of muscles (iliocostalis, longissimus, spinalis) and it’s origin is the lower four thoracic vertebrae. Its insertion is located on the upper cervical vertibrae....

Maendel Fitness has successfully transferred 100% of its business over to the online space now!

We will no longer be training Fitness & Nutrition clients, locally, at the Maendel Fitness Gym & Spa!

Much prayer, thought, and deliberation went into making this decision. We thank those of you that have come along side us to support us in prayer and wise counsel about this important shift in our lives!

Our family is super excited for this change as it will allow us to pursue some of our dreams we have put on hold for the last 6-7 years now! One of those dreams is pursuing the process of adoption to expand our little family!

I cherish all the time spent with all the ladies I had the opportunity to work 1:1 with in our local gym, and look forward to coaching women worldwide now as well!

Note: Age 40-50 Need: 1 - 1.2 grams of protein per kg of body weight
Exercise Regularly: 1.1 - 1.5 grams of protein per kg of body weight
Athletes Training: 1.2 - 1.7 grams of protein per kg of body weight
