Six Common Joints in the Human Body By Carmen Maendel

There are six common joints throughout the human body. Each joint has it’s own classification, specific movement and anatomical location. Moving from the head region down the joints are in the following order: 1) Pivot Joints (Trochoididal) allow rotation of the neck and are located Superior to the Sternum 2) Ball and Socket Joints (Enarthrodial) in the hip and shoulder permit movement in all directions and are located Distally (shoulder) and Inferior (hip) to the Sternum 3) Hinge Joints (Ginglymus) provide a wide range of motion using one plane movement and are located Inferior and Distally (elbow, ankle, knee) from the Sternum 4) Ellipsoid Joints (Condyloidal) between the wrist and carpal bones allow two axis of movement in the bone without any rotation and are located Inferior and Distally from the Sternum 5) Saddle Joints (Sellar) located in the thumb only allow ball-and-socket movement without rotation and are...

Eating Habits Questionnaire: (After reviewing the Initial Assessment & Triage Questionnaire) looking for bright spots, weaknesses and patterns for insight into creating a plan to help lower sugar intake, eat more variety macronutrients and micronutrients in the form of brightly colored fruits and vegetables and lean proteins, increase muscle tone in lower body (quads, hamstrings, glutes, and gastrocnemius), and creating time for working out and eating appropriately while balancing client load of 10-12 clients a week (24 sessions twice a week)

Today is a very special day in my life...today is my CHRIST Birthday!!!

On November 4, 2006 (sixteen years ago) I made the most important decision and choice I would ever make in my life! I asked Jesus to be Lord over my life, repented of my Sin, and received the Holy Spirit inside me to guide and direct me from that day forward. My husband and two very close personal friends were very instrumental in helping lead me to Christ!

 The Digestive System is an intricate and fascinating component of the human body. Digestion actually starts in the brain when you realize, “Hey I am hungry”. You tell your body to get up and search for food to satisfy your hunger. We may see or smell something that causes our mouths to salivate and our stomachs to begin preparing for food. For the purpose of this narrative, the middle section of this paper is going to be seen through the eyes of a carrot stick. This will outline the path a carrot stick will travel in the digestive system from the mouth to the anus.

I Went to School with Our 13 Yr Old Son Today!

Throughout the day the students were able to sample delicious pumpkin treats, do pumpkin activities around Math, English, Science, History, PE, Art, and much more.

They created stories, watched The Greatest Pumpkin Charlie Brown movie, listened to pumpkin stories being read to them, played pumpkin bowling, created pumpkin art, built a tin foil boat to hold the most candy pumpkins, created no bake pumpkin pie in a cup with their buddy, and finally chucked pumpkins using both a Catapult and a Tribuchet that the students designed and created themselves!

What an amazing day I got to spend with all the students, teachers, and staff at Stare Academy!

Thank you Stare Academy for a wonderful memorable day!

Three Major Macronutrients: Protein - Carbohydrates - Fats By Carmen Maendel


Protein is an important substance found in every cell of the human body. It is a major source of energy, and when we consume more protein than we need for our body tissue maintenance and other functions; our bodies use it for energy. Enzymes are proteins that increase the rate of various chemical reactions in the body. Protein digestion is the process of breaking the proteins down into smaller parts (peptides and amino acids). This process originates in the stomach and then these smaller parts are absorbed into the bloodstream by way of the small intestine. Some are used for energy and others are synthesized into new proteins. Protein is broken down into twenty different amino acids that are arranged in a chain to form different proteins. Depending on the amount of energy present in the body, the tissues can pull from these amino acids for the growth and repair of muscles during high resistance training....
