There are six common joints throughout the human body. Each joint has it’s own classification, specific movement and anatomical location. Moving from the head region down the joints are in the following order: 1) Pivot Joints (Trochoididal) allow rotation of the neck and are located Superior to the Sternum 2) Ball and Socket Joints (Enarthrodial) in the hip and shoulder permit movement in all directions and are located Distally (shoulder) and Inferior (hip) to the Sternum 3) Hinge Joints (Ginglymus) provide a wide range of motion using one plane movement and are located Inferior and Distally (elbow, ankle, knee) from the Sternum 4) Ellipsoid Joints (Condyloidal) between the wrist and carpal bones allow two axis of movement in the bone without any rotation and are located Inferior and Distally from the Sternum 5) Saddle Joints (Sellar) located in the thumb only allow ball-and-socket movement without rotation and are...

Protein is an important substance found in every cell of the human body. It is a major source of energy, and when we consume more protein than we need for our body tissue maintenance and other functions; our bodies use it for energy. Enzymes are proteins that increase the rate of various chemical reactions in the body. Protein digestion is the process of breaking the proteins down into smaller parts (peptides and amino acids). This process originates in the stomach and then these smaller parts are absorbed into the bloodstream by way of the small intestine. Some are used for energy and others are synthesized into new proteins. Protein is broken down into twenty different amino acids that are arranged in a chain to form different proteins.
